Apple-choco cereal bars
Hello food lovers!
Here is a new cereal bar recipe! :o)
We love them here! For snack breaks, little hunger pangs, or hikes in the mountains and forests! Cereal bars are perfect for taking with you everywhere.
This time, I'm offering you an apple-chocolate version.

Here is the list of ingredients for 20-25 cereal bars:
- 60gr dried apples
- 30gr flaked almonds
- 80gr oat flakes
- 80gr oat puffs (unsweetened Smacks)
- 20gr chocolate chips
- 120gr sweetened condensed milk
- 50gr butter
Let's get started with the recipe!
Start by cutting 60gr of dried apples into small cubes of about 0.5 mm.
Personally, I cut them with a pair of scissors. I used ready-made dried apples from Coop.

Pour into a large bowl 30gr of flaked almonds, 80gr of oat flakes and 80gr of oat puffs. The oat puffs are a bit like Smacks. You'll also find them at Coop — make sure to get the unsweetened ones. They're perfect for making homemade cereal bars.
Then add the chopped dried apples and mix the 4 ingredients together with a spoon. Then set the mixture aside.

In a saucepan, pour 120gr of sweetened condensed milk with 50gr of butter.
Then heat the two ingredients together, mixing with a whisk.

Once the butter has fully melted into the condensed milk, pour it over the cereal/apple mixture.
Mix with a spoon so that the sugar spreads evenly over all the cereals.

Let's go! Time to fill our moulds.
Start by preheating your oven to 160°C, fan-assisted.
I used a mini cake mould and two mini log moulds.
Fill your cavities without pressing them down for now.

Add a few chocolate chips to each cavity. In total, I used 20gr.
Make sure to use chocolate chips that hold up during baking.
Once the chocolate chips are added, press down each cavity using a spoon or fork.
I was able to fill two and a half moulds.
Make sure to place your moulds on a perforated tray for optimal baking.
Bake your cereal bars for 20 minutes in your preheated oven.

And there you have it! :o)
Let your cereal bars cool completely before unmoulding them. If you unmould them too quickly, they will break.
They will become crunchy once cooled. :o) So a little patience is needed.
They will keep for about 10 days in a metal tin.
This is a recipe approved by the whole family!
Enjoy them during your little breaks!
Have a lovely day!
Karin
P.S.: All the equipment used can be found at the bottom of the recipe.
