Airbrush food coloring
Airbrush food colours give cakes, biscuits and desserts a real wow effect. This category brings together liquid food colours for the airbrush and the matching equipment. Spray them onto cakes covered with fondant or marzipan, onto biscuits with royal icing, macarons or cupcakes topped with buttercream, and become an airbrush pro!
Water-based airbrush colours
Classic airbrush colours are water-soluble, in other words water-based; the metallic shades also contain a little alcohol. We stock two ranges developed specifically for the airbrush: standard and metallic colours, both in Airbrush colours. They are liquid, highly concentrated and opaque, so they spray beautifully. The wide choice ranges from pink, yellow, orange, red, violet, turquoise, navy blue and baby blue to light green, holly green, brown and black, plus 250 g versions such as deep black, raspberry red, strawberry red, lemon yellow or pistachio green. Important: never use gel colours in your airbrush, as they can clog and damage the device.
We have tested and approved two well-known brands that you can use with confidence:
- Sugarflair, a very well-known English brand, also for metallic shades such as rose gold and autumn gold
- Rainbow Dust, the same manufacturer as the Progel gel colours we love so much
In addition there are the 250 g bottles for anyone who regularly sprays larger surfaces.
Metallic colours
The metallic airbrush food colours are of course edible; the exact colourings are listed with each product. Shades such as old gold, rose gold, autumn gold or black glitter are ideal for gold jewellery, a golden Harry Potter or Wonder Woman logo, aluminium car rims or a silver lock.
Airbrush machines and accessories
In Airbrush kits & accessories you will find, among other things, the airbrush kit for water-soluble colours, the portable PME airbrush set with compressor, an airbrush gun, a gun holder and a cleaning station. For chocolate and cocoa butter there are dedicated airbrush guns, a compressor and an airbrush machine. More models are shown in Food airbrush.
Cake design ideas
Airbrush colours are widely used in the world of cake design. With them you can create gradients like a sunset, a starry night, galaxy effects or lifelike shading, turning your bakes into works of art. How about a safari cake or a sea and sand effect? For very precise designs, combine the airbrush with stencils, which you will find in Cake and cookie stencil. Biscuits can be dressed up in no time too: lay the stencil on top, spray over the colour and the pattern is done. When starting out, practise first on kitchen paper or a spare piece of fondant until the amount of colour and the distance feel right.
Frequently asked questions about airbrush colours
How do I clean my airbrush properly?
Clean your airbrush thoroughly after every use so that it does not clog, ideally with an alcohol-based airbrush cleaner. Our video comment utiliser un aérographe (in French) explains use and cleaning step by step.
Which surfaces hold airbrush colour best?
Firm, dry surfaces such as fondant, marzipan or fully dried royal icing. Chill buttercream well beforehand so that it stays firm while you spray.
How do I achieve a soft colour gradient?
Spray from a little distance in several thin layers, start with the lightest shade and gradually work in the darker areas.
