Square and rectangular tins are what you need for brownies, traybakes, layer cakes, gratins and cakes with a square cut. The tall square cake tins by Decora are made of anodised aluminium, stand 10 cm high and come in 10 x 10, 15 x 15, 20 x 20, 25 x 25 and 30 x 30 cm. The rectangular cake tins measure 30 x 20 cm and 40 x 30 cm with a height of 10 cm; made in one piece with a fixed base, they help tall sponges bake nice and level.

Questions about square and rectangular tins
How much batter goes into the tin with 4 bases?
Allow 110 to 130 g of batter per base: about 110 g for a classic sponge, around 120 g for a pound cake batter and 130 g for a sponge cake. Divide the batter between four bowls first if you want to colour each layer differently.
Tall square tin or square springform: which should I choose?
The tall square tins have 10 cm walls and suit tall sponges that you later slice into layers. The square springform tin of 23 x 23 cm with a height of 7 cm opens at the side and is handy for cheesecake and delicate cakes; you will also find it in our Springform tins category.
