Loaf cake & Yule log boxes

Loaf cake and Yule log boxes are made for long, narrow shapes: loaf cakes, fruit cakes, marble cakes, Swiss rolls and the traditional Christmas Yule log (bûche de Noël). In a standard square cake box they would have too much room and slide around; in the right elongated box they stay safely in place.

Choosing the right length
Measure the length, width and height of your loaf cake or Yule log. The box should be about 2 to 4 cm longer and at least 1 to 2 cm wider and taller; allow more for decorations such as meringue mushrooms, chocolate curls or cream rosettes. A loaf cake baked in a 24 cm tin fits well into a box 25 to 30 cm long.

Yes, the dimensions work. However, always transport an ice cream Yule log in a cool bag with ice packs.
