Mikado
Hello foodies,
Feel like making a classic childhood treat? With our homemade Mikado, rediscover the pleasure of biting into these thin and crunchy biscuits coated in chocolate. ;-P
Easy to prepare, these little treats are perfect for an afternoon snack.
Watch the recipe video:
To make these homemade Mikado, we used half the biscuit dough from the "Royal Icing Decorated Biscuits" recipe.
For the decoration you will need:
- 1 packet of Deco Melts milk chocolate flavour
Let's get started with the recipe!
Start by preparing the biscuit dough. We removed the lemon zest from the recipe to stay as close as possible to the original.
Preheat your oven to 135°C, fan-assisted.
Once the dough has been rolled out and chilled, cut out sticks of 15 x 0.5 cm, then place them on a perforated baking tray lined with a perforated mat. The combination of a perforated tray and perforated mat will give you an even bake. :-)
Bake the sticks for 15 to 18 minutes in the middle of the oven. Once baked, let them cool.
When the biscuits have cooled, we can move on to the decoration.
Decoration
In a tall glass, pour in the Deco Melts milk chocolate flavour and melt them in the microwave for 1 minute at 600Watt.
Mix well. If everything is not completely melted, heat again for a few seconds in the microwave.
These melting discs are perfect for this type of preparation — no need to temper them, just melt them and you're done. Plus, they have a great milk chocolate flavour.
Dip the sticks halfway, wipe off the excess on the edge of the glass and decorate them with sugar strands mix, blue nonpareils and pink nonpareils.
Place the decorated Mikado on baking paper and let them set for 15 minutes in the fridge.
And there you have it, the biscuits are ready to enjoy. :-D
They will keep for 2 weeks in a well-sealed container.
We hope you enjoy this little recipe!
