Easter Cakesicles
Hey there, foodies!
Looking for an original and fun snack? These carrot-shaped cakesicles will be perfect for celebrating Easter. :-)
Under their crunchy Déco Melts shell hides a delicious moist carrot cake. Easy to make and customize, these treats will be a great activity to do as a family!
Watch the recipe on video:
To make 12 carrots, we used 1/3 of the Easter donuts recipe.
For the decoration you will need:
- 1 packet of orange Déco Melts
- 1 light green chocolate flavour pen
Let's get started with the recipe!
Once the cakesicle mixture is ready, preheat your oven to 200°C, fan-assisted.
Then grab the Silikomart "Carota 20" silicone mold and place it on a perforated baking tray.
Spray the mold with release spray so nothing sticks.
Pipe the mixture into each cavity to 3/4 full and bake for 10 minutes in the middle of the oven.
After baking, use a knife to cut off any excess cake sticking out of the mold. Be careful with that! ;-)
Place the mold in the freezer for about 1 hour so the cakes can be easily unmolded.
Once the carrots are well chilled, unmold them and return them to the freezer while you prepare the decoration.
Decoration
Start by melting 1 packet of orange Déco Melts in a fairly tall glass to make coating the carrots easier.
Melt in the microwave at 600Watt for 1 minute, stir, then repeat until completely melted.
Once all the Déco Melts are melted, take your carrots out of the freezer.
Insert a toothpick into each carrot (where the stem will be) and dip them into the melted Déco Melts to coat them completely. Wipe off the excess on the rim of the glass and place the carrots on a sheet of baking paper.
Leave them to set at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
We will now draw the carrot stems.
To do this, place a light green chocolate flavoured pen in a jug of hot water for 5 minutes until it is ready to use.
On a sheet of baking paper, draw the stems, then place them in the fridge for 10 minutes to set.
Take your carrots and use a toothpick to slightly enlarge the hole where it was inserted during dipping. Then place the stems into this opening.
And there you have carrots that look just like the real thing! ;-)
They’ll stay fresh for up to 3 days at room temperature if stored in a box.
We hope you enjoy this recipe and that it brings some Easter inspiration! :-)
