Chocolate Waffles
Hey foodies!
This week I'm sharing a simple and quick recipe that's perfect if you want to make a homemade afternoon snack.
Here are my chocolate waffles!
To make 8 waffles you will need:
- 180gr of dark chocolate
- 100gr of butter
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 50gr of sugar
- 15gr of baking powder
- 1 tsp of vanilla flavouring
- 2 eggs
- 200gr of milk
- 170gr of flour
- 35gr of almond powder
- 2 waffle moulds
Let's go!
Start by melting the 100gr of dark chocolate and 100gr of butter (separately) in the microwave at 500Watt. It will take 1 minute for the butter and 1.5-2 minutes for the chocolate.
Pour the melted butter and chocolate into a mixing bowl.
Then add 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 50gr of sugar as well as 15gr of baking powder.
You know me... I always use my spoon scale to weigh small quantities.
Continue by adding 1 tsp of vanilla flavouring and 2 eggs.
Then whisk everything together for 1-2 minutes.
Once the mixture is well combined, add 200gr of milk, 170gr of flour and 35gr of almond powder.
Whisk everything together for 2 minutes to achieve a light and smooth texture.
Preheat your oven to 210°C, fan-assisted.
And there you go! :o)
Grab a perforated baking tray and 2 waffle moulds.
Then pour in your waffle batter. The quantity is enough for 8 waffles.
Spread the waffle batter into the cavities using an offset spatula.
Then bake your waffles in the preheated oven at 210°C fan-assisted for 12 minutes.
Unmould your waffles and place them on a perforated tray lined with a perforated mat.
Bake your waffles in the oven (still at 210°C) for an additional 4 minutes.
This way, they will be crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. :o)
Last step!
We're going to decorate them with chocolate.
To do this, divide your chocolate into two bowls. One with 60gr and the other with 20gr.
Melt the 60gr of chocolate in the microwave at 500Watt for about 1.5 minutes.
Then, once the chocolate is melted, add the 20gr of unmelted chocolate and stir with a spoon.
Once the chocolate has fully melted, pour it into a small piping bag.
And place a sheet of baking paper under your waffles to avoid making a mess.
Cut the tip of the piping bag and drizzle chocolate over each waffle in lines from one side to the other.
And here's the result!
Waffles for dessert or for an afternoon snack. :o)
This recipe is more of a waffle-cake recipe. These aren't Liège-style waffles but they're still great and very tasty.
Have a lovely Sunday, foodies!
