Apple Waffles
Hey foodies!
I'm finally back with a new recipe! :o) Yay!
In our house, waffles are sacred! Sweet or savory, we love them! But it takes so long to cook them in a waffle iron... So I looked for a way to make waffles faster. And guess what? I succeeded! :o)
So here is my recipe for apple and maple syrup waffles! Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The recipe makes 12 waffles.
Here is the list of ingredients:
- 50gr of butter
- 300gr of milk
- 300gr of flour
- 50gr of sugar
- 3 eggs
- 23gr of baking powder
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 300gr of grated apples (2-3 apples)
- 30gr of maple syrup
- 2 tsp of vanilla extract
- 2 tsp of ground cinnamon

To start, we'll make the base of the waffle batter.
Melt 50gr of butter in the microwave at 600Watt for 30 seconds. It doesn't matter if it's not completely melted.
Then in a bowl, pour the butter, 300gr of milk, 300gr of flour and 50gr of sugar.

Add 3 eggs, 22gr of baking powder and 1/2 tsp of salt.
Mix everything with a whisk for 2-3 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 210°C, fan-assisted.
Now let's work on our grated apples.
I used Gala apples for this recipe because I like their slightly tart yet sweet flavor. 2 large apples were enough for me to reach 300gr of grated apples.
To grate my apples, I used the rösti grater attachment from my KitchenAid. :o) To get small pieces of apple that are neither too fine nor too large.

Here is what my 300gr of grated apples look like.
Add 30gr of maple syrup and 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

Pour the apples and maple syrup into the waffle batter and add 2 tsp of ground cinnamon.
Mix everything with a spatula until the batter is well combined. It's quite runny but that's normal. :o)

To save a lot of time, I used 2 waffle molds for the oven. This way all my waffles are ready in just 2 batches.
So I placed my 2 waffle molds on a perforated baking tray for even baking.
Then I filled my cavities with the waffle batter to 3/4 full.
And I baked my waffles in my preheated oven at 210°C for 12 minutes.
This recipe makes 12 waffles, so either you have 3 molds, or you bake in 2 batches.

Once out of the oven, unmold your waffles and place them on a perforated baking tray lined with a perforated mat.
Bake your waffles for 4-5 minutes, still at 210°C.
This way they will be soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. :o)

And there's my trick for making waffles quickly. I'm even thinking of investing in a 3rd mold so I can make waffles in 20-30 min flat! :o)
Have a great day!
Karin

Est-ce que cette recette marche aussi avec une cuisson avec le gaufrier ?
Merci
