Traditional regional specialities
Many of our most popular recipes come from French-speaking Switzerland. The Cooked wine tart, the Mini cuchaules and the Sugar tart are part of every Bénichon celebration, while the Vully Cake with Bacon is a savoury speciality from the shores of Lake Murten. The Gruyère Anise Biscuits, the Anise cookies and Meringues served with double cream are reminiscent of a day out in the Gruyère region.
Crispy Bricelets are a must too, whether sweet or as Savoury Bricelets for the aperitif. And anyone who thinks of Swiss fairs and markets will know the spiced Magenbrot.
Classics for coffee time, celebrations and snacks
In addition to regional specialities, you will find bakes that are loved throughout Switzerland:
- Mille-feuille, Vanilla Cream Horns and Strawberry Roulade, just like at the patisserie
- Black Forest Cake and Caramelized Almond Tart for festive days
- Milk rolls, Sugar Buns, Hazelnut Snails and Homemade Pretzels from the bakery
- Cream Caramels to give as a sweet little present
The Swiss Meringue Buttercream is a reliable base for many layer cakes, and Mini meringues make a pretty decoration for desserts. If you prefer savoury flavours, try the Tomato cream cheese roulade, and for a colourful party treat, the Rainbow Roll Cake with Carambar.
Our tip: for traditional recipes, use regional ingredients such as double cream, vin cuit or Fribourg saffron wherever possible. They create the authentic taste.
