Matcha tea (in Japanese = ground tea) is a green tea originally from Japan.
Obtained from young Tencha tea leaves, there is a very important process involved to finally obtain Matcha tea.
Deprived of sunlight for a few weeks, this plant benefits from a high chlorophyll content, which gives it its intense green color.
Its taste is very pronounced with a very vegetal flavor. Some say its taste is close to that of spinach and fresh grass with milky notes.
A very powerful tea, used by Buddhist monks for their tea ceremony.
In recent years, this tea has arrived in Europe for its taste as well as its benefits. You have certainly already seen a recipe for Matcha Latte or matcha cookies. :o)

Unlike other teas (black, white...etc), matcha tea powder does not need to be steeped. Simply add a little powder to your drink, biscuit or any other preparation.
Matcha tea is of course gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan.
