Whether you are making your first bûche or try a new recipe every year, you will find the right mould here. After all, the right mould is the most important foundation for a successful Yule log.
Which Yule log mould suits your recipe?
Most of our moulds are made of silicone, including models from Silikomart and Pavoni, who present new designs every year. Silicone is suitable for both freezing and baking: as a baking mould it ensures even results, and as an entremet mould its flexibility lets you unmould the frozen log cleanly. In our range you will find:
- Classic Yule log moulds around 25 cm long as well as models with special surfaces such as «Mr Pillow», «Sequoia», «Skyline», «Snowfall», «Corallo», «Atomic» or «Diamant»
- Stainless steel and steel moulds, including an adjustable-length log mould, a stainless steel mould with insert and a non-stick steel mould
- Mini and midi logs for individual portions, such as the midi log mould with 9 cavities, the «Mini Bûche» dessert mould or the «Bûchette140»
- 3D moulds such as the fir tree log, the «Instant» mould or «Snow tree»
- Silicone mats with wood, snowflake, heart, arabesque or quilted patterns that give the log texture, plus Swiss roll mats for rolled sponge
An entremet consists of several layers such as sponge, mousse or cream and is finished with a mirror glaze or velvet effect. For the layers to set and unmoulding to succeed, this type of dessert needs sufficient freezing time. You will find the right velvet spray in our range of edible decorations.
Bûche de Noël with an insert
An insert with a different flavour creates a surprise when the log is cut and adds variety to your Yule log. For this there are sturdy Silikomart silicone inserts that you can use for many years, and PVC inserts for anyone who wants to try making logs first. Our sets of mould, insert and mat, such as the 3-piece log set, and the multi-insert mould are particularly practical. More insert moulds are available in our Yule log insert category. Our blog offers plenty of inspiration with many log recipes, such as the popular apple and speculoos log with video tutorial – a new recipe is added every year.
Tips for a perfect Yule log
- Allow plenty of time: mousse logs should set in the freezer for at least one night before unmoulding.
- Make the insert first and freeze it separately, so that it stays nicely centred during assembly.
- For a crisp pattern, spread the mixture well over the silicone mat before filling to avoid air bubbles.
- Glaze the log straight from the freezer so that the mirror glaze sets evenly.
Decorating, presenting and transporting
Cake toppers, sugar decorations and edible Christmas decorations from our Yule log decoration category add the finishing touch. The transfer sheet mould gives the ends of your log an elegant pattern. For a beautiful presentation and safe handling, place your log on a gold or black log board. If you are giving the log as a gift or taking it to a party, a suitable box protects it on the way and keeps it fresh in the fridge. Everything for your Yule log can be found under Christmas log.

Frequently asked questions about Yule log moulds
Can I bake and freeze in a silicone Yule log mould?
Yes, our silicone moulds are suitable for both baking and freezing. For mousse and ice cream logs, freezing is even essential for clean unmoulding.
How long is a standard Yule log mould?
Many classic moulds are about 25 cm long. There are also smaller mini logs and adjustable-length moulds. The exact dimensions are listed for each product.
What is the difference between silicone and PVC inserts?
Silicone inserts are sturdy and made to last for many years. PVC inserts are an affordable solution for a limited number of uses and are ideal for trying things out.
How do I best unmould a frozen Yule log?
Let the log freeze completely, ideally overnight. First loosen the edges of the silicone mould, then carefully peel the mould outwards. Glaze the log straight away or spray it with velvet spray, then let it thaw in the fridge.
What do I need a Swiss roll mat for?
On the mat you bake a thin sponge that can then easily be spread with cream and rolled into the classic Yule log.
