With seasonal silicone moulds you can make Christmas, Halloween and Easter decorations from fondant and flower paste in no time. For Christmas you will find silicone moulds with a snow star, snowflake, fir trees and knit pattern, Father Christmas, Rudolf the reindeer, reindeer head figures and a stag head, a snowman face and a dancing snowman, plus the St Nicholas silicone mould. For Halloween there are moulds with a spider web, skull and ghost and a Halloween mould with fingers, eyes and brains; for Easter, the Easter bunny mould and the lying bunny silicone mould. The moulds by Katy Sue Designs, FPC Sugarcraft and Städter also work with marzipan as well as fondant and flower paste.

Tips for moulds and silicone forms

  • Lightly dust the mould with cornflour so that fondant or flower paste releases cleanly and every detail stays visible.
  • A fondant knit pattern around the cake looks as cosy as a woolly jumper in winter.
  • For sturdy fir trees, snowflakes or Father Christmas figures, mix about three quarters fondant with one quarter flower paste and colour only with gel colours, as powder or liquid colours make the paste brittle or too soft.
  • If a fine design sticks, for example with the Halloween mould, the fir trees or the knit pattern, put the filled mould in the freezer for 30 to 60 minutes.

Frequently asked questions about Christmas, Halloween and Easter moulds

How long should fir trees, knit patterns and Halloween pieces dry?

Ideally overnight. Then attach the decorations to the cake, cupcake or muffin with edible glue; before that you can highlight the outlines with a little edible dust.

Can I also bake in the St Nicholas silicone mould?

Yes, depending on the recipe, the St Nicholas and lying bunny moulds are suitable for baking, chilling or freezing. Place the mould on a firm surface and only unmould once the piece has cooled completely.
