Which decoration for which look?
- Sugar pearls and nonpareils in white, gold, silver, pearl or mixes such as red, white and green create a classic look. There is a large selection in Sugar pearls & nonpareils.
- Sprinkle mixes such as the popular fairy-tale mix, hearts, stars or confetti combine several shapes and colours in one tub: Sprinkle mixes.
- Glitter: gold glitter powder is one of our best sellers. Dust it on or apply it with a brush. Glitter spray in silver, light gold or dark gold covers whole surfaces. More choice in Glitter powder.
- Candy eyes in mini, midi and maxi turn cupcakes into monsters, animals or funny characters in no time.
- Edible paper as sheets, flowers, butterflies or confetti, plain or printed: Edible sheet for cupcakes.
Seasonal designs and natural decorations
For the festive season there are sugar decorations with Santa hats, reindeer, penguins and gingerbread men; for Halloween, ghosts, pumpkins, skeleton hands and chocolate spider webs; for Easter, chicks and carrots. If you prefer a natural look, decorate with dried edible flowers such as rose petals, cornflowers, violets or daisies, or with handmade sugar roses; find more in Edible flowers. Gold Metallic crispy pearls and chocolate crispy pearls add extra crunch. Allow about a teaspoon of sprinkles per cupcake: for 12 cupcakes, a 50 to 80 g tub usually lasts for several batches. For large quantities, there are colourful sprinkles in 1 kg bags. Combine no more than two or three decorative elements per cupcake for a harmonious result, and store tubs tightly closed, dry and away from light so they keep their colour and shine.
Frequently asked questions about edible cupcake decoration
When should I add the decorations?
Straight after piping the cream, while the surface is still soft. That way pearls and sprinkles stick well.
Do sprinkles bleed in the fridge?
Coloured sprinkles can bleed slightly in humid conditions. Decorate shortly before serving if possible and keep the cupcakes in a closed box.
How do I apply glitter powder?
Dust it onto the cream with a dry brush, or mix it with a little alcohol to make a paint and dab it on. For large areas, glitter spray is the better choice.
