Edible lace gives cakes, cupcakes and desserts a touch of elegance. Sugar lace is perfect for decorating your fondant cakes, wedding cakes or any other dessert. Here you will find gluten-free white Cake Lace paste (400 g), white Cake Lace mix (200 g), the gold-coloured «Edible lace – gold» paste and a large choice of silicone border mats and decorating mats – for example Grace, flower dream, Art Nouveau, mandala, butterfly, Vintage Bows or Calligraphy Celebration. The range goes from fine borders such as Memoryband, net or dots and lines to decorating mats with flowers, butterflies or cupcake motifs.
How to make perfect sugar lace
- Apply: simply spread the paste into your lace mould with a spatula and scrape off the excess cleanly so the fine patterns stay open.
- Dry: put the lace in your oven for about 10 minutes or simply let it dry overnight in the mould.
- Release: turn the mat over and peel it away from the lace rather than lifting the lace off the mat – this way the delicate parts will not tear.
- Prepare ahead: you can easily make sugar lace in advance and keep it in an airtight box.
Frequently asked questions about edible lace
How do I attach the lace to the cake?
On fondant, a touch of water or edible glue is enough; on fresh buttercream the lace sticks by itself. As the lace absorbs moisture, it is best to add it shortly before serving. With the Butterfly Wrappers mat you can create borders for cupcakes and cakes.
Can I colour the lace?
Yes: tint the white paste with a little gel colour – powder or liquid colours change the consistency – or paint the finished lace with metallic paint. For a golden finish without painting, use the gold lace paste: spread it into the mat like the white paste and let it dry for about 8 hours.
