Food pen and icing for Macarons
There are 38 products.
With food pens and sugar icing pens you can add the finishing touch to your macarons: faces, names, patterns or fine lines are drawn in seconds. Food pens are very easy to use on macarons, fondant and marzipan, as well as on wafer paper, sugar sheets and edible rice paper. Handy: some pens have two tips, one fine and one thicker, and the black food pen combines a brush tip and a fine liner. You will also find chocolate pens and chocolate-flavoured pens in many colours, glitter sugar pens in gold and red, a silver sugar pen, and sets of 5, 6, 8 or 10 pens.
Tips for writing and decorating
- Firm surface: make sure the surface is slightly dry or firm. On fondant that is too soft, the pen presses into the paste and leaves an unwanted imprint instead of colour.
- Outlines first, then fill: draw fine lines with the thin tip and then colour in larger areas with the thick tip or the brush end.
- Prepare chocolate pens: dip them in hot water for about 2 minutes until the contents have melted, then pipe as you would with a small piping bag.
- Icing and sugar pens: they are suitable for writing on almost any cake and for all kinds of decorations – except on surfaces dusted with icing sugar, where they will not stick.
Frequently asked questions about food pens
What is the difference between a food pen and a chocolate pen?
A food pen works like a felt-tip pen and draws fine lines on dry surfaces. A chocolate pen contains a mass that is piped while warm and then sets – ideal for lettering, dots and small decorations.
When can I write on macaron shells?
As soon as the shells are completely cool and dry. For elegant accents, choose the gold food pens or the gold glitter or silver sugar pens.
