Flowers for the baking tray: our flower cutters are first and foremost biscuit cutters with floral designs – from the stainless steel edelweiss to the rosette, tulip, little tulip and daffodil, the flower in an egg and the 3-piece flower set. The mini flower cutter cuts the window in Spitzbuben, the Swiss jam-filled biscuits, while the duos butterfly and flower, tulip and butterfly or flower, bunny head and egg let you bake a whole spring meadow. The shapes cut butter dough, Mailänderli dough (the classic Swiss butter biscuit) and gingerbread as cleanly as fondant and marzipan, and some emboss the outlines at the same time.
You will also find cutters here for quick fondant blossoms on cakes and cupcakes: the four-size blossom set with plunger, hydrangea and lilac (23–35 mm) or the lilies with plunger, roses in 57/65/75 mm, carnations (25/35/40 mm), calla (30/40/55 mm), daisies, peonies and orchids. If you want to model lifelike sugar flowers with veining, reach for the embossing sets for hydrangea, petunia and frangipani blossoms or the 75-piece flower cutter set.
Tips for flower biscuits
- Edelweiss for Swiss National Day: Mailänderli in edelweiss shape, with white royal icing and a centre of yellow sugar pearls, are the biscuit greeting from the mountains – or make them savoury from cheese dough for the aperitif.
- Flower Spitzbuben: the mini flower cutter cuts the window in the top biscuit and the jam blooms through. It also punches little flowers out of cucumber or carrot slices for the lunchbox.
- Easter nest of biscuits: the flower in an egg and the flower, bunny head and egg set together make an Easter assortment for the biscuit tin – simply fill the embossed lines of the flower in an egg with coloured icing.
- Flower tower in three sizes: with the 3-piece flower set, stack a large, a medium and a small biscuit, glued with a dab of icing, into a three-dimensional blossom for the spring table.
Frequently asked questions about flower cutters
What does the inner embossing on the flower in an egg and the little tulip do?
These cutters cut the edge and press lines into the dough at the same time. After baking the outlines stay visible, so you can pipe royal icing precisely along the lines – or leave the biscuits plain.
Flower cutter or embossing set – what do I need for fondant flowers?
For flat blossoms as cupcake toppers, cutters such as the blossom set, daisy or hydrangea and lilac are enough: cut out, release with the plunger, let them dry. For sugar flowers with veined petals, the embossing sets combine a silicone embosser with the matching cutter – that is a tool for cake decorating, not for the baking tray.
