On Buttercream, Ganache, Cake icing and icing, the figures stand firmly and adhere without any aids. On smooth Fondant, it is advisable to secure the base of the figure with a small dot of melted chocolate – this keeps the penguins safely in place even during transport. Royal icing is sensitive to moisture. If exposed to too much dampness, it softens and the figures lose their shape. On very moist creams such as freshly whipped cream, mascarpone or quark, therefore place the penguins only shortly before serving. On Buttercream, Fondant, icing or Ganache, they can be placed somewhat earlier without any issue, as these surfaces release less moisture. If the decorated baked good is stored in the refrigerator, keep the time there as short as possible – the humid air in the refrigerator can soften the icing over time.

Store the penguin figures in a dry, cool and light-protected place at 12–20°C. Do not store in the refrigerator – the moisture will soften the royal icing and the figures will lose their shape and the fine details of the hat and scarf. Store in the original packaging until ready to use.
