Cookies of the same thickness bake evenly, and a fondant sheet without thin spots will not tear: with rolling guides and spacer rings you get the same thickness everywhere, without measuring. This category offers the 6-piece set of untreated beech dough sticks for 3, 5 and 10 mm, the acrylic dough stick set, also for 3, 5 and 10 mm, and sturdy plastic guide sticks for 1.5, 3 and 5 mm.

For rolling pins there are two sets of guide rings: one with six rings for 2, 4 and 6 mm, fitting rolling pins 4.5 cm in diameter, and one with eight rings for the 25 cm rolling pin. Simply slide the rings onto both ends of the rolling pin and they hold it at the chosen height above the work surface.

Tips for an even thickness

  • Place the two dough sticks to the left and right of the dough and roll until the pin rests on both: that is your thickness.
  • Choose a thin setting for fondant sheets and delicate cookies, a thicker one for cookies that should stay soft in the middle.
  • The acrylic sticks are dishwasher-safe and will not splinter; wash the beech sticks by hand with mild detergent.
  • Spacer rings only fit rolling pins of the right diameter; the set of six is not dishwasher-safe and should be washed by hand.

Frequently asked questions about spacer rings and guides

Dough sticks or spacer rings: which is more practical?

Dough sticks work with any rolling pin and suit large sheets of dough, as long as the pin is longer than the gap between the sticks. Spacer rings stay on the pin, so no sticks are needed beside the dough, ideal for small amounts of fondant and marzipan.

Why do the sets contain two sticks per thickness?

While rolling, one stick sits to the left and one to the right of the dough, and the pin rides on both. That is why the beech and acrylic sets have six pieces: two sticks each for 3, 5 and 10 mm. The acrylic sticks are 35 cm long, so the dough should be no wider than the span your rolling pin can cover.
