The right piping tip accessories make decorating easier and neater. A coupler lets you switch tips without a new bag – we stock a small 2-piece, a medium 3-piece and a large Ø 3.5 cm coupler, plus a coupler with cap for small tips. The coupler for two- and three-colour designs guides two or three colours separately right into the tip. Build buttercream flowers on a flower nail (stainless steel, 4 cm, or as a 3-piece set) and transfer them safely to cakes or cupcakes with the flower lifter. The conical tip brush cleans even the finest openings.
Tips for couplers, flower nails and more
- Fitting a coupler: push the base into the piping bag and cut the tip so that about two threads show. Add the piping tip, screw on the ring – done. To change tips, simply unscrew the ring.
- Mind the size: small couplers go with small tips for lettering and details, the large Ø 3.5 cm coupler with large tips for cupcakes and rosettes.
- Piping in several colours: fill each colour into its own bag and bring the bags together in one tip with the multi-colour coupler, which fits large tips of Ø 2.5 to 3.5 cm. Thanks to separate channels the colours stay neatly side by side for two- and three-tone rosettes and flowers.
- Flower nail and lifter as a team: with the set of three flower nails you can work on several flowers at once while the first one chills. The flower lifter sets the finished flower on the cake with its angled arms, without pressure marks, and comes apart for cleaning.
Frequently asked questions about piping tip accessories
Does every coupler fit every tip?
No. Couplers come in different sizes, and the tip has to match the coupler’s diameter. For fine writing tips use the small coupler or the coupler with cap, for large star and flower tips the large coupler.
What is the best way to clean piping tips?
Rinse the tips in warm soapy water straight after use and run the conical tip brush through the opening – this removes even greasy buttercream residue. Then let them dry thoroughly. The cap on the coupler stops the filling from drying out during short breaks.
