Polystyrene cake dummy round Ø 30 cm, 10 cm high

This round polystyrene cake dummy (Ø 30 cm, 10 cm high) looks just like a real cake once covered. It is also known as a styrofoam cake dummy, fake cake, dummy cake or display cake. Made from expanded polystyrene (EPS), it is light, stable and can be decorated like a real cake with fondant, marzipan or buttercream.

10 cm is the height of a classic cake. Your display cake looks particularly realistic, and real and fake tiers combine seamlessly – nobody can tell which tier is polystyrene. At Ø 30 cm it forms a stable bottom tier for further real or fake tiers on top.

Tips for covering

• Lightly sand the edges or round them with a smoother so the fondant does not tear.
• Moisten the dummy thinly with water, vegetable shortening or piping gel so the fondant sticks well.
• Never place a real tier directly on the polystyrene: always use cake boards and, for heavy tiers, cake dowels as well.
