Two families, one passion – the story of Mure & Peyrot

At Cakelicious, we stock the Mure & Peyrot range – a French family business from Thiers in the Auvergne, founded in 1904 and keeping the art of cutlery alive for over 115 years. The name unites the two founding families: the Mure family, whose roots lie in the Puy-de-Dôme above Thiers, continued the cutlery factory after the death of Antoine Mure in the First World War through Edouard Mure. In the 1980s, Jean-Claude Peyrot, an engineer, took over the company together with his wife – with a clear focus on professional cutlery and the guiding motto: innovation for greater safety in the workplace. Thiers itself is a city with deep blade heritage: the Durolle, a fast-flowing river with a steep gradient, enabled the city to produce knives as far back as the Middle Ages.
