The name derives from the two founders: Anne Hamilton and Magda Ounsworth. In its early years the company focused on the creation of flowers – a significant art form in Japan and China. Magda Ounsworth and Anne Hamilton shaped these craft skills decisively and taught them in their book ‘Ribbon Flowermaking’. As this craft developed, bakeries and confectioneries discovered that many of the articles manufactured by Hamilworth were perfectly suited to the creation of sugar decorations – and a new core business was born.
