Which cake box for which cake?
Two measurements matter for every box: the base and the height. So first measure your cake including its decoration. All square boxes, sorted by height, are in Square cake boxes. Then choose the right category:
- Classic cake boxes 11 to 16 cm high for standard cakes up to about 12 cm, such as the popular 30 x 30 x 15 cm cake box: Classic cake boxes (height 11–16 cm)
- Tall cake boxes from 17 cm for tiered cakes, drip cakes and cakes with figures or tall decorations: Tall cake boxes (height 17 cm and up)

Size guide: cake diameter, box and cake board
As a rule of thumb, choose a box base about 3 to 5 cm larger than the diameter of the cake. This leaves enough room to lift the cake in and out without damaging the edges. The cake board is the same size as the cake or 2 to 5 cm larger, but it must always fit comfortably inside the box.

For the height, the box should be at least 2 to 3 cm taller than the cake including decoration. A standard cake up to about 12 cm fits into the classic 15 cm high box. For tiered cakes, drip cakes and highly decorated cakes, choose a tall box with a height of 20, 25, 30 or 40 cm, for example the 30 x 30 x 30 cm cake box. Tarts, cream slices and single portions travel best in a flat box where nothing slides around. You will find suitable bases among our Cake boards.
With window, transparent, in value packs or chilled
If your cake should make an impression the moment it is handed over, choose a cake box with window, for example in white and gold, or a transparent cake box up to 40 cm high. If you bake often, sell cakes or cater for events, the value pack of 25 is worthwhile: the white cake boxes come in packs of 25 from 20 x 20 x 15 cm to 35 x 35 x 15 cm and in 40 x 30 x 15 cm. There are also models with adjustable height and extensions that make a box taller.

Frequently asked questions about cake & pastry boxes
Which box do I need for a 26 cm cake?
Add 3 to 5 cm: a 30 x 30 cm cake box is ideal. For a cake up to about 12 cm high, the 30 x 30 x 15 cm box is enough.
When do I need a tall cake box?
As soon as your cake including decoration is taller than about 12 cm, for example tiered cakes, drip cakes or cakes with figures. The box should be 2 to 3 cm taller than the cake.
How do I transport a cream cake in summer?
Place the cake on a sturdy cake board, close the box and carry it flat in a cool bag with ice packs, keeping the journey as short as possible.
