Color the fondant as desired - only use gel colors for this, as powder or liquid colors can make the mass brittle or sticky. Dust the work surface, rolling pin and tools with baker's starch instead of flour; it prevents sticking without affecting the consistency or appearance. For particularly stable results, knead in flower paste: about 3/4 fondant and 1/4 flower paste. Roll the cutter in baking starch, cut out and remove cleanly with the cutter. Contours can be accentuated with a little dark grey edible coloring powder. Place the cut-out elements on a plate to dry and allow sufficient time - ideally overnight. The snowflakes can then be attached to cakes, cupcakes or muffins using edible glue. Tip if the mixture remains in the mold: Place the cutter together with the paste in the freezer for 30 to 60 minutes; the cold will minimally contract the paste and make it easier to remove. Alternatively, you can make the figures entirely from flower paste (work quickly) or use modeling chocolate.
