Use the 3 mm stainless steel star nozzle to pipe fine star dots, decorative patterns and delicate edge decorations. The 3 mm size is small enough for detailed work and large enough to come out cleanly. The nozzle is suitable for fine cupcake toppings, decorative patterns on cakes and tartlets, decorations on patisserie and royal icing decorations. Typical mixtures are buttercream, whipped cream, chocolate cream, cream cheese toppings and meringue. It can also be used for piping royal icing decorations. To use, cut off the tip of the disposable piping bag so that the front part of the nozzle sticks out, but the nozzle does not slip through. You can work more elegantly with a nozzle adapter: insert the inner part into the piping bag, screw on the nozzle from the outside so that the nozzle can be changed even when the bag is full. Twist the bag in just behind the nozzle and push it gently into the opening to prevent the mixture from running out the front when filling. For clean filling, place the bag turned upside down in a piping bag holder or a tall measuring cup. For even results, pay attention to the consistency. Buttercream must be smooth and room temperature, otherwise it will tear when pressed. Whip cream to a medium consistency and keep it chilled, cream cheese toppings also like it cold. Never fill the piping bag more than half full, otherwise it is difficult to control. Three basic movements cover most applications. For decorating dots, the nozzle is vertical, a short press is enough, then pull away without pressure. For toppings, pipe in a spiral, either from outside to inside or from bottom to top. For edges, hold the nozzle at an angle and place slightly overlapping dabs end to end. Rinse the nozzle with hot water immediately after use before any residue can dry. Specially shaped conical grommet brushes are available for the edges and interior areas. The spout is made of stainless steel and is dishwasher-safe.
