This square dummy made of polystyrene measuring 25 x 25 x 5 cm is ideal for realistic showpieces and for practicing clean cake techniques. What is it suitable for? For wedding cake toppers, birthdays, anniversaries or as a decorative dummy in shop windows. How is it used? Place the dummy on a slightly damp cloth to prevent it from slipping and spread a thin layer of buttercream, royal icing or jam on it so that the fondant or marzipan adheres well. Roll out the fondant to 2-3 mm with a little baker's starch so that nothing sticks to the work surface or rolling pin, place it on top and smooth it out with the fondant smoother, first on the top and then on the sides. The square cake dummy is dimensionally stable and additional supports are generally not necessary. It is particularly suitable for training: tearing can be avoided by not rolling out the top too thinly and using the baker's starch in moderation - too little leads to tears, too much makes the fondant dry and brittle. For reasons of hygiene and appearance, you should not use reused practice fondant for the final result. This allows you to achieve an impressive cake look even for smaller celebrations. Please note: Styrofoam is not edible. Always cut the edible part of the cake carefully from the dummy and use the dummy exclusively for presentation and display.
