Round cake boards are the classic base for cakes: they carry birthday cakes, wedding cakes, novelty cakes and cheesecakes safely from the kitchen to the buffet. Thick or thin: two types of round cake boards

Choosing the right size of round cake board
As a rule of thumb, choose a board about 4 to 5 cm larger than the diameter of your cake. For a cake of Ø 20 cm, a board of Ø 25 cm works well; for a cake of Ø 26 cm, a board of Ø 30 or 30.5 cm; and for a cake of Ø 30 cm, a board of Ø 35 cm. The most popular sizes are the white round cake boards Ø 25 cm and Ø 30 cm. If you hand the cake over in a box, the board must not be larger than the base of the box: a 25 x 25 cm box takes a board up to Ø 25 cm; matching boxes can be found in Square cake boxes.

For a cake of Ø 24 cm we recommend a board of Ø 30 cm. This leaves a border of about 3 cm all round.
When do I need a thick cake board?
A 12 mm cake drum is worth it for heavy cakes, fondant cakes, tiered cakes and whenever the cake needs to be transported.
