Use the 12 mm star nozzle to pipe large rosettes, lavish toppings and striking cake edges. With 12 mm, you can achieve large decorations that act as a central design element. The nozzle is used for lavish cupcake and muffin toppings, large cake edges, rosettes on dessert plates and patisserie decorations. Typical fillings are buttercream, whipped cream, chocolate cream, cream cheese toppings and meringue. It can also be used to pipe royal icing for decorative dots. Insert the nozzle into the disposable piping bag by cutting off the tip accordingly. The opening should be large enough for the nozzle to hold but not slip through. Using a nozzle adapter is even easier: insert the inner part, screw on the nozzle and you're done. The big advantage is that you can change the spout even when the bag is full. Before filling, turn the bag in once directly at the spout to prevent the mixture from pushing out at the front when filling. Place an upturned bag in a holder or measuring cup and then fill the mixture comfortably with both hands. Two things are crucial for the result. Firstly, the mixture: buttercream stirred smooth at room temperature, cream chilled and only whipped to a medium consistency, royal icing thicker or thinner depending on the application. Secondly, the filling quantity: a half-full bag can be guided precisely, a full one becomes unpredictable with every squeeze. The handling determines the pattern. Place individual dots by holding the nozzle vertically and pressing briefly. For a rosette topping, circle the nozzle on the spot or spiral upwards. Cake edges turn out best when the nozzle is slightly inclined and the dots just overlap. After use, clean the nozzle immediately with hot water to prevent the mixture from drying out. A conical spout brush can be used to reach the hard-to-reach areas inside. The spout is made of stainless steel and is dishwasher-safe.
