For natural veins and textures there are silicone veiners with rose leaves, rose buds and thorn, peony and tulip, filigree lily, jungle leaves or daisy and sunflower motifs. Combined veiner and cutter sets are available for hydrangea flowers, petunia flowers and butterflies, as well as a leaf veiner and cutter and round cutters with Ø 18 mm and Ø 22 mm.

How to make sugar flowers with cutters

  • Roll thinly: roll out the flower paste as thinly as possible so the petals look delicate and light.
  • Cut, then vein: cut first, then place the petal in the silicone veiner and press briefly to create fine veins.
  • Refine the edges: thin the edges on a foam pad with a ball tool so the petals ruffle slightly.
  • Let them dry well: shaped flowers need time to set and are only assembled afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Which paste works best with flower cutters?

Flower paste or gum paste is best, because it rolls out very thinly and dries hard. For simple flowers on cupcakes, fondant or marzipan also work.

What do I need a silicone veiner for?

A silicone veiner presses the typical leaf texture into the paste. Rose leaves, lilies or hydrangeas then look far more natural than plain cut-out shapes.

How should I store finished sugar flowers?

Keep the dried flowers in a box in a cool, dry place, but not in the fridge. Moisture softens the petals and makes them droop.
